Deep Breaths
Deep Breaths explores the history and aesthetics of cigarette addiction. Produced with tissue paper and adhesive, these works are meant to illustrate the once sophisticated and pristine act of smoking, all while depicting the fragility and frailness of one's lungs caused by the damage of cigarettes.
In Deep Breaths, Angelina explored the nature of tissue paper as a new medium. Its fragility and inflexible characteristics made the medium challenging to form; however, by learning to cooperate and work with the material, Angelina successfully created works composed of portraits and still lifes.
This portfolio was presented at the National Scholastic Art and Writing competition and received a national silver medal.
